Any ideas what can be the reason? I've been spending the whole day working on this and still have no idea how to fix it.

looks like you need a newer copy of

pip

which is probably as simple as bumping the venv version in your ./pants wrapper script

15.1.0

which is using pip

- still the same issue

I didn't have

3rdparty/python/requirements.txt

but after I've created it and put

cffi==1.8.0

- pants is still using the 1.7.0 version:

yeah I've deleted

~/.cache/pants

and

~/Library/caches/pip

before trying the new ./pants script

I think that problem might be somewhere in cffi or specifically in

cparser

which is a dep of cffi
