i’ve been thinking for our setup (one big repo, lots of scala code, and some play projects) - since pants doesn’t really support play (im looking into it but looks like a good chunk of stuff to do) - is there a way to have pants build everything else, and sbt just build play? in other words is there some way to get pants to call sbt, have sbt pull in jars pants builds, etc? @ancient-stone-50795 @enough-analyst-54434 @witty-crayon-22786

perhaps. but i don't know if the workflow would be an improvement over using just one or the other.

the build worked fine on the host (ubuntu trusty), this is from when I try to run it in a docker container (ubuntu wily)

so I now got pants to build my .pex file in the docker container. that's nice - but after pulling it out of the container and running it on the host, it errors out with ": No such file or directory"

actually never mind, this was due to the way I extracted it. now I have something which looks 'better' but it requires the .so - thought pants would include dependencies?

ie, the pex ill carry native eggs and/or wheels, but it won't stuff libc or libssl in the pex too

Maybe the easiest way to put it is there is 0 magic to pex besides the fact it zips up 1 (or more) venvs into 1 file. IE: the pex is just all your python code and all its built dependencies for the current platform - and - only if you arrange

[python_setup] platforms

as well as a repo with pre-built eggs/wheels for additional platforms, those too`
