in particular, debug mode only seems to skip the final phases of compilation

so it doesn't seem to affect how quickly you get compile errors

trying to do some manual testing whether pickling addressed the issue, but the `Struct` does not seem to get indexed.

the `Struct` types with an `address`: `TargetAdaptor PythonTargetAdaptor JvmAppAdaptor RemoteSourcesAdaptor`

those are indexed: `AddressMapper BundlesField DescendantAddresses Dir File Files Link PathDirWildcard PathGlobs PathWildcard Paths SourcesField`

hmm, still couldn't find, i mean `HydratedTarget`, that's where my print is inside `ExternContext`

i did see `HydratedTarget` and `Collection of HydratedTarget` which showed up as the `output_type` during the initial engine initialization. not the actual data

still no, looks like the extra 20% was simply checking if obj should compute digest

yeah, there’s a quick doc in comments if you `cat pants.daemon.ini`

weird it's definitely buggy, the behavior seems to be non-deterministically 1) not picking up the change 2) pick up the change 3) lose the change again
